Police say woman’s death not ‘suspicious’

1 min read

It appears there was no foul play involved in the death of a Cape Coral woman whose body was found in her home Monday, according to police.
A man contacted police at about 12:38 p.m. and reported seeing a person on the floor inside a home in the 140 block of Southeast 17th Terrace. The man told police that he was asked by his girlfriend to check on her roommate, who is also her co-worker, because the woman had not yet shown up for work.
According to a police report, the man did not get an answer at the door but he heard loud music playing inside. He looked for a way to gain entrance and eventually saw a person lying on the floor in the master bedroom area. Police entered the home and found the woman on her back in the master
closet.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is not suspicious,” Connie Barron, police spokeswoman, said.
She added that the woman’s death is “mostly likely self-inflicted.”
