North High alumni to be honored at homecoming football game Friday
Alumni of North Fort Myers High School will be honored at halftime at the homecoming football game this Friday, Oct. 15.
It is an especially important milestone, said North Fort Myers High School Principal Kimberly Lunger.
“The excitement is not only the homecoming game, but also our 50th anniversary to celebrate,” she said.
She said there will also be surprises this year.
“We are unveiling a new pre-game ritual — it is a surprise,” she added.
She herself is an alumni of North Fort Myers High, and has been with the school over 20 years, principal the last seven years.
“This is a Homecoming for me, too,” she said.
She is hoping many area alumni return for the celebration.
“Many of our alumni come from Cape Coral,” she said. “We’re inviting them to attend. When alumni come there will be a sign-in booth for alumni only.”
Students have been working hard on the celebration, said coordinator and math teacher Amanda Sanford. She is the Student Government Association Sponsor and homecoming coordinator.
“We are excited to recognize alumni,” she said.
She and Lunger said there is information on the school website, or interested parties can call 995-2117.
Some of her hard working volunteers include Executive Council President Krystal Shepherd, Junior Class President Abbey Gunderson and Junior Class Historian Darienne Boyden, who recently posed in front of the famous “Red Knight” statue on campus.
The festivities begin early, with court announcements at 6:45 p.m., the game at 7:30 p.m. and the alumni recognition and king and queen crowning at half-time Friday.
The traditional school dance will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, from 7 to 11 p.m.
North Fort Myers High School is located at 5000 Orange Grove Blvd., in North Fort Myers.
