Funds from yard and bake sale to help local resident
A Cape Coral resident is hosting a yard and bake sale on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 30-31, to help her friend in need.
Niska Gazlay said her friend, Lisa Pletincks, needs financial support due to medical problems she has been faced with since April 26. Pletincks had a complete hysterectomy in April and during that surgery her bladder was affected. She continued to have problems with incontinence, which required an additional surgery. After a three-week reprieve, her bladder ruptured again.
Pletincks will undergo a third surgery Friday to correct the problem. Gazlay said Lisa goes into surgery at noon Friday. The surgery will take place at the Cleveland Clinic in Miami.
“I really want to help her,” Gazlay said. “I thought this would be a good way to get people involved.”
The idea struck Gazlay because a lot of people have stuff laying around that they do not need.
“Now we can do something with that stuff and help someone who really needs it,” she said.
The yard sale will feature household items, clothes and furniture, among other things, and the bake sale will have lots of goodies, soda and water for sale.
Gazlay said they have received a lot of support from the community and have received a bunch of items to sell at this weekends sale.
Everyone is encouraged to attend the sale and show their support for Pletincks.
“I hope we can raise some good money,” Gazlay said because the numerous surgeries have put Pletincks behind on her rent and car payments.
If anyone would like to donate items for the yard and bake sale, call Gazlay at 239-699-6938 or email her at new_homes03@yahoo.com.
The sale will be from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at 2005 S.W. Embers Terrace.
