Fall Kids Festival today at Jaycee Park
The 13th Annual Fall Kids Festival, which is presented by the Harney Point Kiwanis Club and Cape Coral Parks and Recreation, will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Jaycee Park.
The festival began in 1998 by Harney Point Cape Coral Kiwanis Club and Cape Coral Parks and Recreation as a way to provide families and children with an outlet for valuable information and resources to enhance the quality of life for young families.
Harney Point Kiwanis Club President Elect Janise Turner said the festival is a day for families to be together and enjoy a day at the park while not spending a lot of money.
The event will feature free pony rides, a petting zoo, bounce house, costume contest, various vendors showcasing their services for children, hula hoop contest and raffles. Various food vendors, face painting and a craft activities tent will be set up for families as well.
Turner said the festival also will have performances from some of the local dance academies of Cape Coral, along with singing and a special appearance from Raggedy Ann and Andy.
Donations of canned food for the Cape Coral Caring Center is greatly appreciated for those who attend the event.
“We would love to see the community come out and support the event,” she said.
Turner said boxes will be placed at the entrance of the festival for people to drop off their non-perishable canned donations.
The festival averages between 8,000 to 10,000 people a year.
“We usually have a constant flow of people throughout the day,” she said. Jaycee Park is at 4215 S.E. 20th Ave. There will also be a suggested $2 donation for parking for the festival.
