Celebration Cape community to hold Hometown Hero Day
Celebration Cape, a new gated community in Cape Coral, will hold its first annual Hometown Hero Day on Nov. 6.
Roger Schutt, managing partner for Celebration Cape, said the first annual Hometown Hero Day is an event that will recognize those who are either active or retired military, local police officers, fire department and EMS employees, teachers and hospital workers.
The Hometown Hero Day is an effort by Celebration Cape to take recognizing local heroes a step further.
Schutt said military are mostly recognized as heroes, but there are other folks who live in Cape Coral who work in certain industries to protect the citizens, along with creating a foundation for a good life through education.
The event, which is free to the public, will feature entertainment, food, refreshments and door prizes from 12-4 p.m. The event is free, Schutt said, because, “we didn’t want to preclude folks” who want to join the festivities.
In addition to the activities, Celebration Cape is offering a $2,000 incentive for those serving oversees protecting the United States or for those renting or at the age of retiring.
“We are recognizing hometown heroes by offering a special incentive if they were to purchase a home in our community,” Schutt said. “We are trying to give them some consideration in their efforts in purchasing their home.”
The incentive can either be used for reducing the purchasing price of a new home or to cover some of the closing costs.
Schutt said he hopes it will be well received and those who participate appreciate the recognition.

Hometown Hero Day will be held at 300 Destiny Circle off of Southeast 8th Street and Santa Barbara Boulevard.
