Cape VIN unit charges man with selling cocaine

Cape Police with the Vice, Intelligence and Narcotics Unit arrested a convicted felon for selling cocaine after detectives conducted separate controlled buys. Edgardo Diaz, 31, was charged with eight felony counts including sale and trafficking of cocaine, and several possession charges.
Wednesday Oct. 27 at 5:20 p.m., detectives with the VIN Unit executed a search warrant at 3206 S.E. Santa Barbara Place, Diaz’s residence, according to police. Diaz had allegedly sold cocaine to detectives on two previous occasions during controlled buys. Just prior to executing the warrant, Diaz had left the home. He subsequently was stopped by officers with the Street Crimes Unit. Upon taking him into custody, officers found 22 grams of hydroponic-grade cannabis and $1,057 in cash, the report says.
Upon searching the residence, detectives reportedly found 40 grams of cocaine, 10 Xanax tablets, 3.5 Vicodin pills and two Ecstasy (MDMA) pills. Detectives also recovered various items of paraphernalia and eight rounds of .45 automatic ammunition.
Diaz is a convicted felon and was charged accordingly with the felony gun charge.
Diaz was arrested and transported to the Lee County Jail. The Cape VIN Unit and Street Crimes Unit also was assisted by the SWAT and K-9 units.
Diaz was charge with sale of cocaine (2 counts), trafficking in cocaine, possession of cannabis (More than 20 Grams), possession of controlled substance w/o prescription (2 counts), possession of synthetic narcotic w/intent to sell, possession of ammunition by convicted felon, possession of cannabis (less than 20 Grams) and possession of paraphernalia.
