‘World’s Largest Ice Cream Social’ Thursday at Cold Stone Creamery
Cold Stone Creamery in Cape Coral will hold a special event Thursday, Sept. 30, concluding a month-long celebration to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation. During the “World’s Largest Ice Cream Social,” Cold Stone locations across the country will be offering 3-ounce portion of an exclusive ice cream flavor created by an 11-year-old girl, Kate, who has a life-threatening spinal cord condition. Kate’s Creation will be available from 5-8 p.m., and guests will be encouraged to make a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Throughout the month of September, Cold Stone Creamery locations have been selling paper wish stars for $1 to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Kate, a resident of Tampa, was inspired to become this year’s Cold Stone Creamery wish child after she attended last year’s event. In March, she traveled to the Cold Stone Creamery world headquarters in Scottsdale, Ariz., to work with a Cold Stone Taste master to create her treat — caramel apple ice cream mixed with graham cracker pie crust, chocolate shavings and apple pie filling.
“This is the first time in Cold Stone’s history that the wish kid’s wish was to create a flavor specifically for this event,” said Susan Abbot and Janice Wainwright, owners of the Cape Coral and Fort Myers Cold Stone Creamery locations. “Guests who participate in the event and try Kate’s Creation will not only be helping Kate’s wish come true, they will also contribute to granting the wishes of seriously ill children in the area.”
Cold Stone Creamery has supported the Make-A-Wish Foundation since 2002, generating more than $3.6 million in donations. The Cape business is located on Santa Barbara Boulevard, just north of Veterans Parkway.
