2 min read

For the third year in a row, Sheriff Mike Scott has been asked to serve on the statewide selection committee for the Anti-Defamation League. Scott will have an integral hand in the nomination process and selection of individuals chosen to receive the Anti-Defamation League’s Excellence in Law Enforcement Award. The award recognizes law enforcement members who are so deeply committed to their work that they make an impactful difference in their community and serve as role models for their department. It recognizes both the investigative side and prosecutorial sides of the process by recognizing those who go above and beyond for their community.
“I am proud to be associated with this worthy effort and think it to be of specific relevance given the broad diversity of citizen contacts we in law enforcement have in our communities,” said Scott. “It is encouraging to know that our county is recognized for its efforts given my being selected for the third consecutive year.”
The Anti-Defamation League’s Excellence in Law Enforcement Award is unique in that it publically recognizes leadership in law enforcement in the areas of hate crimes, domestic terrorism and civil rights. It focuses on the accomplishments of sworn active duty officers and prosecutors. Specific criteria include leadership, particular progress or advancement, general excellence, novel approaches, extraordinary casework and/or prosecution, and dedication to training in the areas of hate crimes, terrorism or extremism.
