1 min read

An elderly man was reportedly struck by a vehicle Tuesday evening after he attempted to cross Del Prado Boulevard South on foot.
The man, who is in his 70s, was walking across Del Prado in the 3600 block when he was hit at about 6:15 p.m. Capt. David Newlan, a spokesman for the Cape Coral Police Department, said the man’s name and address were not available yet Wednesday morning.
The driver, whose information was also unavailable, remained at the scene.
“It was not a hit and run,” Newlan said.
The man was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with some fractured bones.
“There wasn’t any life-threatening injuries,” he said. “If they’re over 50, they’re automatically trauma-alerted to the hospital.”
It is unknown if the man is still hospitalized and in what condition.
Police are looking into the accident. Newlan was unaware of any charges or citations issued against the driver as of Wednesday morning.
“It’s still under investigation,” he said.
