Local Jewish communities prepare for Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur
Rosh Hashana begins after sundown on Wednesday and continues until nightfall Friday, Sept. 10.
Rabbi Yossi Labkowski of the Chabad Jewish Center of Cape Coral said Rosh Hashanah is the beginning of a new year.
It’s a time when God judges every individual on how the year is going to go, he said.
“We pray for a good year,” Labkowski said, adding “not only for ourselves, but for all man kind.”
Labkowski said the Shofar blowing is to repent on the way the year went and take new resolutions to work on for the next year.
“Everybody should utilize that day,” he said.
Chabad Jewish Center of Cape Coral will celebrate the holiday with evening services at 7 p.m. on Sept. 8. Morning services will be provided on Sept. 9 and 10 at 9:30 a.m. with a Shofar blowing at 11:30 a.m. followed by a kiddush luncheon.
