Cape police arrest fourth suspect in shooting death

2 min read

Cape Coral Police have arrested a fourth suspect in the fatal police-action shooting at Steak-n-Shake Restaurant on Dec. 20.
Christopher Maurice Williams, 22, of 5247 Red Cedar Drive, Fort Myers, was charged with felony murder after the investigation by Cape detectives found that he was actively involved with the planning and execution of the home invasion robbery that led to the subsequent death of Tyson Lee Richardson, 21, officials said.
Williams also was charged with aggravated battery, attempted home invasion and burglary.
Cape detectives determined that although Williams was not present when the incident occurred, his involvement was such that Florida law considers his actions to be the same as if he were present at the time the incident took place.
Tyson Richardson was a passenger in a white Kia that had been stopped by Cape Police at the Steak-n-Shake Restaurant on Pine Island Road. The vehicle was seen driving from the neighborhood of a reported home invasion robbery at 703 NE 15th Terrace. Richardson was shot by Cape police after the occupants of the Kia fired at the officers. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The three men in the vehicle with Richardson already have been charged with felony murder for his death. Jarrett Delshun Mundle , 19, Patrick Rhodes Nelson, 19, and Mike Borrell, 27, also were charged with home invasion robbery and aggravated battery related to the home invasion.
A warrant was issued for Williams’ arrest, and he was located Friday night by officers with the Street Crimes Unit in the 4400 block of Southwest 14th Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Lee County Jail to await first appearance.
