Holiday Magic to kick off season
Cape Harbour will kick off the holiday season Friday with Holiday Magic 2009, a free event for the whole family to enjoy.
The fourth Holiday Magic event will feature a night of shopping, dining and live music from 6-10 p.m.
Glenda Swager, event coordinator for Cape Harbor, said the annual event began due to the grand opening for the shops and restaurants, which carried on as a way to kick off the holiday season.
Santa Claus will make an appearance in his workshop at the Pavilion from 6-9 p.m. Parents are encouraged to bring a camera to take pictures.
“You can bring your own camera, your kids and pets at no charge,” Swager said.
She said organizers wanted to help everyone this year since people are strapped for money, so they decided to have families bring cameras instead of charging them for a Santa picture.
The annual tree lighting ceremony will be held at 7:30 p.m. with the Marina’s 40-foot centerpiece.
“We decorated a palm tree, but we make it look like a Christmas tree,” Swager said.
Gary and Kerri will provide live music from 7-10 p.m., which will be sponsored by Helping Hands. They will perform a variety of music.
The Promenade will be open for guests, providing them with the opportunity to begin their holiday shopping.
Rumrunners, The Joint, Pignoli and Run Agrounds will also be open for everyone to enjoy during Holiday Magic 2009.
“We would like for everyone to come out and spread the holiday spirit and make some very merry memories,” Swager said.
She said that in the past the event has been very successful due to an excellent attendance.
The event will be held at The Marina, located at 5828 Cape Harbour Drive. For information, call 945-6116 or visit: www.capeharbour.com.
