Crime Stoppers releases surveillance video in business theft

Crime Stoppers is asking for help identifying a man officials believe broke into a local business twice over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, stealing thousands of dollars in tools and property.
Surveillance photos captured images of the man who stole thousands of dollars worth of drill kits, nail guns, ratchets and other expensive tools from work trailers parked at New Code Windows and Doors, 12320 Crystal Commerce Loop, Fort Myers, officials said.
According to reports, employees had parked the trailers behind the business before the start of the long holiday weekend. The first break-in occurred on Friday, July 3, when a white male pulled up to the back of the business and cut the lock on the side trailer door, removing about $3,600 in tools. The next day, July 4, that same person returned to New Code Windows and Doors and took another $5,400 in tools – each time loading them up in a dark colored 1993 – 1997 Volvo 850.
During both instances, detectives say the thief displayed no mannerisms that he was in a hurry – but rather acted as if he was supposed to be there – so as not to alert anyone in the area of anything suspicious. The thefts were not detected until the business re-opened on Monday, July 6.
Anyone with information on the thefts, or who can identify the man in the surveillance photos, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for up to $1,000 in cash rewards. Tips may also be made online at www.swflcrimestoppers.org.
