Samaritan Health and Wellness Center on Pine Island relocating in January
Dr. Susan K. Hook, DNP, APRN, BC, founder, executive director and family nurse practitioner of Samaritan Health and Wellness Center, wants all to know that her Pine Island clinic will be moving from the Beacon of Hope to First Baptist Church of Pine Island by early January, when care begins at this new location.
“Samaritan is going to be moving from the Beacon to the church. Our first day to offer services at the church will be Jan. 7,” Hook said.
She also said patients can certainly expect to be personally notified either with a call or text. Hook said she has known about the coming move for a bit and is very grateful for all the time she has been able to see patients at the Beacon, which, by March of 2026 would be 3 years.
“We’ve been out on the island providing medical, physical and especially spiritual care to the uninsured and the underinsured and now God has given us a new opportunity and it’s not even a mile away. We’ll continue to be supportive of Beacon services, and I know they’ll continue to send people who need care, to Samaritan,” Hook said.
The move will not affect the schedule, she said, as she intends to keep the same days and hours as was kept at the Beacon; every other Wednesday, beginning Jan. 7. Overall, Hook explained, by January, the Affordable Care Act, the Patient Protection and informally as Obamacare, signed into law by President Barack Obama, may be changing, meaning more folks may find themselves in need of Samaritan Health and Wellness.
“That’s where Samaritan comes in. We’re here to serve the uninsured and the underinsured. We’ve already started seeing patients who’ve had to drop their insurance because their premiums were going to be too expensive in 2026. This is a very positive move. We’re thankful for our association with the Beacon and now we’re thankful that we have a new space,” Hook said.
First Baptist Church of Pine Island is at 5363 Avenue D, Bokeelia, near Pine Island Elementary School.
