Fire damages house in St. James City

Monday around 3 p.m., crews from the Matlacha/Pine Island Fire Control District were dispatched to a structure fire in St. James City. According to a report from Fire Chief Ben Mickuleit, the residents were able to safely evacuate the structure without injury, but the structure sustained significant damage. Responding units were PI-1, PI-3, Captain-150, E-151, E-152, E-153, E-154, Medic 10 and LCSO. The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, Mickuleit reported.
