Kiwanis Park gets adult workout equipment
Cindy Bickford said when the group renovating and rebuilding Kiwanis Park in St. James City decided to get some adult equipment for the facility, they called Playmore, the same company that installed the children’s equipment.
“They said they had the piece that we wanted,” said Bickford. “It only took two weeks to get it. They came and put it in. We also had 15 volunteers who showed up to help spread the mulch, which was great.”
Bickford said now they’re just waiting on the border to go around the mulch on the adult equipment.
The public has taken notice of the park and Bickford said often adults and children stop to use the workout equipment in the park.
President-elect Andre Mule, who has been a member of the Greater Pine Island Kiwanis for several years, has made the park’s new sign.
At a recent meeting, Bickford said some of the members commented that building the park was the best thing they’d done in a long time. In the fall there will be a barbecue and a grand re-opening of Kiwanis, formerly Lions Park, after social distancing directives have been lifted.
The installation of benches and tables along with signage recognizing everyone who helped bring this project to fruition are the last things needed to complete the park.
Bickford said she would like to thank everyone who took part in helping get this project off the ground, including residents and Kiwanis, both locally and internationally.
