Friends of Pine Island Library hold Holiday Book Sale at PIUMC
On Saturday, Dec. 7, the Friends of Pine Island Library will hold its annual Holiday Book Sale at Wesley Hall at Pine Island United Methodist Church. PIUMC is just west of Stringfellow Road at 5701 Pine Island Road in Bokeelia. Hours for the sale are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A member only sale will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6. Yearly memberships may be purchased at the door and are only $5.
With probably the largest collection of new, gently used and antique books ever, there will be something for everyone. It will be easy to find a favorite author or genre as books are sorted into many categories including Florida topics/authors, classics, fiction by popular authors, cookbooks, biography/history, and self-help. This year, there are especially large collections of children’s books great for the holidays and large print books.
In addition to all the books, a collection of floral notecards will make their debut. Each packet holds 11 unique cards and will be for sale for $10. The artwork was created by area students who attended Zan Lombardo’s classes at the library this fall which were sponsored by the Friends.
The sale will culminate with drawings for five beautiful baskets donated by library Friends. Tickets for the drawings will be available at the library during the week preceding the sale and at the book sale. Winners will be announced at the church and need not be present to win. The Friends of The Pine Island Library is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to support and partner with the Library in developing, maintaining, and enhancing facilities, resources, and services for the Pine Island community. Book sales are a major fundraiser.
