Friday morning, members of the American Legion Auxiliary presented the teachers at Pine Island Elementary School with gifts.

“Teachers give so much to our community and our children,” Auxiliary President Claudine Alvarez said. “The American Legion Auxiliary would like to show our appreciation. In past years the Auxiliary has presented Pine Island Elementary teachers with cards. This year we had special key chains made. The message on the key chains is ‘It takes a big heart to shape little minds.'”

“The ladies of the American Legion Auxiliary exemplify our core values of being kind and caring,” PIE Principal Steven Hook said. “We are grateful for their support of our school.”
