Home show returns to Civic Center this weekend
Are you looking to remodel your kitchen, install a new hot tub or want some storm shutters if another hurricane comes?
This coming weekend, the Lee Civic Center will once again host the biggest home show in Southwest Florida, the Fort Myers Home and Remodeling Show.
The show will feature local contractors specializing in floors to doors, spas and pools, kitchens and bathrooms, landscaping and patios, hurricane protection, solar, water treatment and so much more.
Jackielou, show manager, said this is the third time she has put the show in the civic center and each time it has gotten bigger. In January, about 16,000 people attended the three-day event.
The show was at the Harborside Convention Center for two years before that.
“We have 130 vendors signed up so far, and we have some who sign up at the last minute. We’re expecting about 150 this time around,” Jackielou said. “Last time we had a company that ran out of magazines.”
The three-day event will be the first of two shows this winter, with the second bigger show coming Jan. 4, 5, 6, 2019.
There will be numerous seminars on a variety of topics. Katharine McMillan from Home Decorating for Dummies will be a featured speaker, as well as Caloosa Water Keepers, who will discuss the current water issues we have.
“It’s a very hot issue right now, and they’re going to do a seminar on Sunday right after Katharine. We’ve promoted this in our TV ads,” Jackielou said.
Jackielou said she is trying to get a larger crowd for this event. She has done a $61,000 ad campaign, including five billboards, that started Labor Day weekend.
Show hours are Friday, noon to 5 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission is $5 for adults and children are free. There is free parking.
