Calusa Land Trust work/fun party Nov. 12 at Ed Chapin Preserve

1 min read

The Calusa Land Trust’s monthly work/fun party will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Ed Chapin Preserve beginning at 9 a.m. The preserve is located at the terminus of Royal Okley Lane (Stringfellow Road to Harbor Drive to Mannheim Road and then follow signs.) This 90-acre preserve contains a mosquito ditch which meanders through the mangroves into Matlacha Pass. The emphasis will be on exotic plant removal, both along the ditch and in the uplands parking area.

Eventually, this preserve and its waterway will be considered a jewel in the Blue Way kayak network.

As an all-volunteer land conservancy, the Calusa Land Trust relies upon work/fun parties to help accomplish its stewardship mission on its 2,100+ acres of preserved lands. It is recommended that volunteers pack with them work gloves/clothing, pruning tools and happy faces.

Due to the popularity of these parties CLT is now providing water, soft beverages and a light lunch to please its participants.
