Hook: ‘Smooth’ opening to school year
The 2016-17 school year at Pine Island Elementary began Wednesday, Aug. 10. According to school officials, the first three days ran very smoothly.
“It was a great start to our school year at PIE,” Principal Steve Hook said. “Preservice week not only provided an opportunity to learn new strategies and information, it gave us a chance to know each other as a staff.”
He went on to report, “Opening day was exciting for the students and the new principal and it went very smoothly. The students, even our new Kindergarten students, looked and behaved like seasoned veterans. Overall our first 3 days have been very successful. We look forward to just learning and growing together.”
The first full week of school began Monday.
PIE is located at 5360 Ridgewood Drive, at the Center. Bell times are 8:55 a.m. and 3:10 p.m. For more information, contact the school at 239-283-0505.
