Strange Arrangement presents ‘Monday Music’
The Brothers Van Kirk, also known as the local band Strange Arrangement, are offering a “Monday Music” program that enables anyone free access to an interactive educational musical experience.
“Many people have never had the opportunity to explore music in a free creative environment,” Warren Van Kirk said. “Often things like budgets, time, learning disabilities and even the fear of no musical talent have prevented students from engaging in arts and music.
“Monday Music’s goal is to provide a ‘free’ interactive educational experience enabling anyone access to basic music tools, instruments, talented artists, musicians and instructors,” Van Kirk said. “It is also an opportunity to bring the community together through the joy of music. ‘Monday Music’ will provide the tools and mental confidence to understand and explore music while interacting and developing fundamental academic and social skills.
“We had several members of the Matlacha Hookers on hand,” Van Kirk said. “It’s amazing how much of a difference the Hookers have made in this community and our lives. The donated funds raised will go toward: music supplies, creating unique study guides, program development and advertising.”
Program goals are to create a community of artists and musicians that improve individual and group well-being. Each student will gain life skills through trial and error of artistic and musical exploration’ preserve and promote artistic and musical ideals; and enable access to instructors, instruments, study guides, audio and video lessons. All participants will be encouraged to learn, apply and create.
The Van Kirks invite people of all ages, instruments and skill levels to join them and are looking to expand their work with young vocalist in the area possibly developing a small vocal group.
