PIE student named ‘School Safety Officer’
Third grade student Kayli Diaz Ramos has been selected as Pine Island Elementary School’s first quarter School Safety Officer.
Each of the school’s 14 classes had a single student who won a safety award. Kayli, from Miss. Dooley’s 3rd grade class, was selected from those 14 safety award winners to be School Safety Officer.
The presentation was made from the media room and broadcast to the classrooms. Deputy Fire Chief Ben Mickuleit made the presentation.
“We would like to present to Ms. Kayli Diaz Ramos with this safety award from the Matlacha Pine Island Fire District,” Mickuleit said. “We will be placing your picture in the fire house and we are very proud of you – keep up the great work.”
The School District of Lee County emphasizes the importance of providing a safe, secure and healthy environment for the students.
“Safety is one of our Eagle Values,” Principal Rob Mazzoli said. “Be Responsible, Be Respectful and Be Safe. I would like to thank the fire department for coming today to stress the importance of safety for our students.”
