Halloween bash
Approximately 70 children attended the American Legions annual children’s Halloween Party Sunday afternoon.
“I believe their favorite game was the pinatas,” Claudine Alvarez, president of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 136, said. “Children of all ages wanted to participate.”
The Legion Auxiliary provided free hot dogs, soda, ice cream and candy.
“Every year we get a great turnout for this and it’s a lot of fun to pull this together for the children of Pine Island,” Alvarez said. The costume contest is always lots of fun. The winners this year were:
First place: Lillian Powell
Second place: Marty Calvo
Third place: Lindsey Guadarrama
“I want to remind everyone that the Legion adult party is next Saturday (Oct. 31),” Alvarez said.
“The party begins at 6 p.m. and runs until 8 p.m. This will be followed by a costume judging contest first place will win $100; second place will win $50; third place will win $25 and fourth place a bottle of wine. The ‘Best Couple” will receive a gift certificate to Miceli’s Restaurant.”
