Basil and Taylor gospel music performance at Pine Island Community Church Sept. 20

Two well known musicians, Mickey Basil and Wayne Taylor, will host the Sunday service at Pine Island Community Church Sunday, Sept. 20, at 10 a.m. They will perform songs from their new gospel album, “Walking with the Angels.” The album was released Aug. 1 and has remained in the number 1 spot on the gospel charts.
Basil now lives on Pine Island and performs locally. Although he is most noted for his jazz piano music, he has also recorded, performed and toured with many of the world’s top performers: Kenny Rogers, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Barbara Mandrell, Dolly Parton, Roy Clark, BJ Thomas, Brenda Lee, Randy Travis, Cristy Lane, Kathie Lee Gifford and Charlie Pride.
Taylor, a native of North Carolina, is a singer/songwriter/guitarist who played with the U.S. Navy Band for 21 years. He has performed by request at the White House for four U.S. presidents and appeared on the “Good Morning America” show, “The Today Show” and the Grand Ole Opry. In 2008 he formed the bluegrass band “Wayne Taylor and Appaloosa” and performed throughout the U.S. and Europe.
Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the music free of charge at 10 a.m. on Sept. 20.
The church is at 5320 Doug Taylor Circle. Call 239-283-9944 for details and directions.
