Parking Lot Art Exhibit
Matlacha artist Sherri Zimmerman will have a “Parking Lot Art Exhibit” Labor Day weekend, Sept. 5-7, at Shore View Apartments in Matlacha.
Originally from Merchantville, N.J., Zimmerman moved to Punta Gorda in 1985. Though she enjoys the Florida winter sun, her heart and soul belong to West Virginia. Zimmerman has three grown children, Jill, Danny and Jared and currently 6 grandchildren.
“On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, I am having a small art exhibit and will display several pieces of art,” Zimmerman said. “I have a very large ‘Mother Mary Angel’ painting and several smaller pieces.”
Zimmerman, who recently moved to Matlacha, has had family in Southwest Florida for many years.
“I began painting at the age of 5 when my mother allowed me to paint in the attic with Magic Markers,” Zimmerman said. “I just recently began painting again. It’s the beauty of Matlacha and the artist atmosphere that inspired me to begin again.”
Zimmerman, aka Sage, teaches tarot and astrology and also does tarot readings. She is the author of “Success after Insanity: Healing Hearts of the Mentally Ill,” available at Amazon.
“The exhibit will go on rain or shine. There will be music, a free give-away and a raffle for a free one hour tarot reading by Sage,” Zimmerman said. “We will also have a bidding on the artwork ‘The Matlacha Flag.'”

Hours of the show are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
