Potters Guild holds final show of season
About a dozen vendors gathered at the Koucky Studios in Bokeelia Saturday for the final monthly Potters Guild Show. Chuck and Nancy Koucky organized the event.
“We originally started this to help some of my pottery students get rid of some of their pots,” Chuck Koucky said. “This is final show of the season and Annie Wenz is here, as well as wearable art by Deborah Zwetch, jewelry by my wife Nancy and also by Laura Devoe. And artist Kim Gibbons has fused glass.”
The Pine Island Potters Guild meets on the second Saturday of each month, from December though April, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Koucky Studios, 5971 Bay Point Road, Bokeelia. At these meetings the guild hosts a pottery show and sale, pottery demonstrations, as well as an idea exchange between local potters.
“The general public is always invited to attend and meet the potters and visiting artists,” Koucky said. “Works by all the artists are for sale. We are always open to new members, there are no members fees and anyone interested should contact me. The spirit of the guild is to exchange ideas, techniques and experiences, and to participate in joint projects.”
Potters of all levels of experience are encouraged to join. Those who are interested in pottery, but who have not yet created any works in clay, are especially encouraged to come and talk with potters about this creative and varied medium.
