St. James City man injured in accident
A St. James City man riding a motorcycle was critically injured last Monday morning when he was struck by a car on Stringfellow Road near Snowbird Lane, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
Michael D. Vanderlip, 56 of Williamston, Mich, was westbound on Snowbird Lane approaching the intersection with CR 767 (Stringfellow Road). Uwe Herzhauser, 49, was northbound on CR 767 (Stringfellow Road) approaching the intersection with Snowbird Lane.
According the FHP, Vanderlip failed to observe Herzhauser and turned left on Stringfellow Road colliding with the left rear of Herzhauser’s motorcycle.
Herzhauser was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.
Vanderlip was charged with failure to yield the right of way.
