March in the Park Saturday in Cape Coral

3 min read

The Garden Club of Cape Coral will present the fifth annual “March in the Park” on Saturday, March 8, at Jaycee Park in Cape Coral, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This plant and garden art sale is the major fundraiser for the Garden Cub.

All proceeds from March in the Park will help the Garden Cub of Cape Coral achieve its goals of civic beautification, working in the Historic Society Rose Garden, Cape Coral Library Butterfly Garden, and City Hall Gardens.

Other club initiatives are awarding local high school seniors merit awards in horticulture, making a donation to Island Coast High School Academy of Natural Resources, and to promote civic awareness of environmental and conservation concerns.

Again they will have a full day of activities. “March in the Park” will feature more 60 vendors including the garden club, with 500 plants from our members.

Plants for sale will include palms, shrubs, fruit trees, natives, flowering butterfly plants, and herbs.

Garden art will include hand made baskets, glass garden reflectors, hand painted pots, tire planters and items for miniature fairy gardens to name a few. There will be something for everyone.

Master gardeners will be available all day to answer your questions, along with many qualified garden club members, and vendors. Please feel free to bring questions and samples of garden problems. Informative speakers will be talking every hour, veggies, butterflies and flower arranging will be a few topics, stay tuned for more

Food will be available, music will be playing, and raffle prizes will be drawn through out the day. Raffle items will include; a rain barrel hand painted by an artist member of the garden club; A Home Depot Cart with plants and garden materials; Home Depot Maxi Gas Grill; two tickets to Royal Palm Dinner Theater; A Raised Bed Garden Kit; two tickets to Edison Ford Estates; four tickets to Culture Park Theater and plants and garden items from show vendors.

The Garden Club of Cape Coral members are now selling raffle tickets. Winner need not be present.

The Garden Club of Cape Coral would like to thank its sponsors; Lee County Electric Cooperative (LCEC); Cape Coral Volunteer Firemen’s Benevolent Association; Danny Yates Landscaping and Scott’s Lawn Service. Without them the garden club could not achieve all our goals.

Parking and admission are free. For more information check the garden club’s website, www.grdenclubofcapecoral.com, or contact Ginny 239-257-2654, huffmom5@aol.com .
