The Matlacha Hookers presented a check for $7,000 to the Beacon of H.O.P.E. Monday, March 10, for its Seniors Programs. The funds were the proceeds of the Afternoon Delights Wine and Beer Tasting event.

During the presentation, Hookers Madam Theresa Kramer introduced Dot Mahan, Elsie Stearns, Tina Bush and Barb Jameson.

“As many of you know in February we had our Afternoon Delight Wine and Beer Tasting Event,” Tina Bush said. “The event was to honor the Beacon of H.O.P.E. and to raise money for the Seniors Program. Last year was our first event and we gave them $4,000! This year we are presenting a check for $7,000.”

“I just wanted to say that I had a conversation with Betsy, our executive director, about these funds,” Elsie Stearns said. “The long-term effect it has on some of our seniors who come in where their husbands are in the advanced stages Parkinsons or Alzheimer’s and they don’t know what to do or where to turn, and we are able to help them with care-giver classes and other things.

“We look to make a difference and your funds are just unbelievable in helping us provide these services to Pine Islanders. So thank you very much,” she added.
