Scott’s ‘The Back 10 Feet’ topic at Garden Club meeting
The Pine Island Garden Club will feature Sue Scott as speaker at the Thursday, Oct. 17, meeting. She currently works at Waterman Broadcasting in production. She had her own environmental consulting business after working for the city of Cape Coral for six years, where she created the Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife and The Burrowing Owl Festival.
She also created Environmentally Speaking, a nature show for the city’s government access channel, which she also hosted. She has taught classes on landscaping with native plants without chemicals for over 10 years.
Her presentation will be about “The Back 10 Feet” of any typical property, which is the starting point for converting water wasteful, boring, unproductive turf grass yards into drought tolerant, wildlife friendly, interesting and storm protective landscapes.
* Holiday luncheon: This year our holiday luncheon is Thursday, Dec. 12, at Chef Georgio’s Misto Bar & Grill, 231 Del Prado Blvd., South, Cape Coral.
* Gala update: Feb. 22, 2014. There are spaces available for vendors who would like to participate. Please contact Marty Kendall at 239-283-8175 for details.
