GPICA’s emphasis on water this season
Greater Pine Island Civic Association represents issues affecting Pine Island, Little Pine Island and Matlacha, three islands that are surrounded by water. The value of island homes, the success of businesses and the fishing and tourism industries, the quality of life and health depends on the quality of the waters that surround the islands.
It is in islanders’ best interests to educate themselves and express our concerns about water quality loudly and together with one voice.
That is why the GPICA will highlight water issues this season beginning with the speaker for the Tuesday, Nov. 5, meeting at 7 p.m., John Cassani, chair of the Southwest Florida Watershed Council.
Cassani will show slides of area waters and discuss the depth of deterioration that is occurring. If you are concerned about this issue which can have significant and direct impact on all island residents, please plan to attend.
All civic meetings are open to the public at no charge. Meetings are at the Elks on Pine Island Road, West of Stringfellow. Join or renew membership for a $10/p.p. annual fee.
