Class of 2013 earns millions in scholarships
The graduating class of 2013 has earned millions of dollars in scholarships and will be attending colleges, universities and technical centers across the United States.
Early data show that the Class of 2013 earned $62 million in scholarships. The school with the highest amount of scholarship monies earned was Cape Coral High School at $11.2 million.
The breakdown in scholarship totals is:
* Cape Coral High, $11.2 million
* Island Coast High, $1.8 million
* Cypress Lake High, $3.5 million
* Lee Virtual Instruction Program, $463.7 thousand
* Dunbar High, $3.3 million
* Lehigh Senior High, $2.4 million
* Estero High, $1.6 million
* Mariner High, $5.1 million
* E. Lee County High, $1.7 million
* N. Fort Myers High, $1.2 million
* Fort Myers High, $8.5 million
* Riverdale High, $9.7 million
* Ida S. Baker High, $5.2 million
* S. Fort Myers High, $5.8 million
Along with scholarship dollars earned, members of the Class of 2013 reported on their post high school plans. Of the students who provided information, the breakdown is as follows:
* Attend a Florida public community college: 810
* Attend an out-of-state community college: 67
* Attend a Florida public college/university: 2,093
