Bailey

Meet Bailey. He is a young Siamese mix with a wonderful disposition. I met Bailey with her 15 brothers and sisters in an abandoned home. He was left in filthy conditions with little food and no water. When I walked in, Bailey was the first kitty to greet me. Now he makes a point of climbing into my lap or on my shoulders when I’m scooping litter boxes. All the kitties are happy to be at the shelter, but I know they would be even happier with a family to give them the individual time they each deserve. Come meet Bailey or one of the other 15 kitties! Call Helping Paws at 239-283-9100 or stop by during our visiting hours from 5-7 p.m., any day except Mondays or Wednesdays.

Persephone

This beautiful kitty came to us through tragic circumstances. Her owner passed away unexpectedly and her grieving family needed to find her a place to go. She is adjusting surprisingly well, considering all the turmoil she has been through. Her name is Persephone, and she loves to cuddle. She is part Himalayan and needs an owner who has time to brush her long fur. This picture doesn’t do her justice, so come and see her for yourself. Call Helping Paws at 239-283-9100, or stop by during our visiting hours from 5-7 p.m. any day, except Mondays or Wednes-days. Don’t wait too long! I have a feeling Perse-phone won’t be at the shelter long…

Photo provided Jade

This week’s cat of the week is a beautiful 2 year-old Russian Blue. She was originally found at the Campground on the Island and has been with us since 2010. Jade is very sweet and loves attention. She likes to “talk,” especially about food and treats. Jade can be a little shy the first time you meet her, but she warms up quickly and will soon have you wrapped around her paw! In a purrfect world, she would be an “only cat” or have only one sister. She has grown tired of being here and is really hoping someone will finally choose her. Please call Helping Paws at 239-283-9100, or stop by during our visiting hours from 5-7 p.m. any day, except Mondays or Wednesdays.

Photo provided Leo

This fat orange cat looks a lot like Garfield, but he’s not. Garfield was grumpy and Leo is sweet. His former owner said he spent most of his time sleeping under the bed. That’s not the Leo I know! He’s social, friendly, and loves to talk. As soon as I bend down, he’s right there for pets. Leo is a bit sensitive about his weight. He’s trying to slim down and since he’s been with us, he’s lost a whole pound! Must be all that moving around. If you are looking for an older (10?), loving companion, Leo is waiting for your call! 239-283-9100 Last week’s Cat of the Week, Freddie, has been adopted by a wonderful family!
