Vino’s Picasso jump starts public art fund for Matlacha Island

When Mercedes Price, owner of Vino’s Picasso, heard about the Matlacha Island Chamber’s public art project she wanted to help.
On Jan. 22, she organized a whole day of painting sessions in Matlacha at Lovegrove Gallery & Gardens. Leoma Lovegrove, President of the Matlacha Island Chamber of Commerce (MICC) was thrilled to sponsor the event in her gardens and Price filled it with 45 of her customers that normally paint at her Vino’s Picasso in Fort Myers. The event was so successful two more garden painting sessions are scheduled in Matlacha. Both new events will benefit the Matlacha Public Art Project sponsored by The MICC and Archer Western. (MICC and Archer Western are also sponsoring historical markers to be placed in the Matlacha Parks). Price hopes to raise $500 for the special project. She presented the first check of $110 after the painting session on Jan. 22.
