Man’s body found at campground
A resident of Wisconsin was found deceased in the retention pond at the KOA campgrounds last month.
Paul Strohman, 54 of Marshfield, Wis., was found in the retention pond behind campsite 267 at the KOA on Jan 17.
According to a Lee County Sheriff’s Office report, a call was made by KOA Park Manager Robert Schule Wednesday, Jan. 16, when he noticed that Strohman had left his trailer and art supplies out all night. The Lee County Sheriff’s Department arrived at approximately 7:52 a.m.
The deputy called to the scene checked his vehicle for identity, but could not find one. He also called the local hospitals to see if he was admitted, which he was not.
The report said that the deputy checked the shoreline for disturbance, but did not find any.
At 8:58 a.m. the deputy was unable to determine if Strohman was missing or left the area.
Later that day at 10:10 p.m., the Lee County Sheriff’s Department was notified from Strohman’s wife of a possible missing person.
The report stated that Mary Strohman said she had not heard from her husband since Jan. 14. A missing report was then filed.
On Jan. 17 around 7:06 a.m., a medical emergency was called into the Lee County Sheriff’s Department at the KOA campground, which led the deputy to the spot where Strohman’s body was found in the retention pond.
Medical Examiner Matt Gleason arrived at the scene at 10:30 a.m. to start the investigation. Strohman was then transported to the Medical Examiner’s office to determine the cause of death at 10:42 a.m.
Foul play was not suspected.
