Legion Auxiliary fashion show attracts over 100 women
More than 100 women gathered at the American Legion Wednesday to enjoy lunch, a fashion show and some shopping.
Auxiliary President Linda Lewis said they had 112 women attend the fashion show, which is one of the group’s biggest fund-raising events held throughout the year.
The women who attended were treated to a broccoli, cranberry salad and turkey, chicken, Swiss cheese tossed salad, fruit and a muffin. For dessert German chocolate cake was served.
Boutique On Wheels owner Johnine Philip said she has been visiting St. James City for the past 10 years doing the fashion show.
Last week’s fashion show featured spring sets, prints and color collections.
Five models from the American Legion showcased casual, sporty and dressy clothing.
“We come for free,” Philip said of the fashion show, adding that 10 percent of what was purchased will go back to the American Legion. “It’s a fund-raising fashion show.
Philip said the ladies love the show and always seem to have a good time.
“Ladies love it because they can come and shop after they see what was worn,” she said.
Once the show concluded, the women had the opportunity to browse through many racks of clothing, as well as a table of accessories.
