From Our Hearts selling chances for 2013 Chevy Spark
Chance-drawing tickets are currently on sale to win a techno pink-colored 2013 Chevy Spark to raise funds for the organization From Our Hearts.
Last year From Our Hearts had a record year. The group raised more than $73,000 and provided more than 168 mammograms to Pine Island women. The organization also paid for 10 women to receive chemotherapy and radiation.
“Our work saves lives,” Board Member Connie Verner said.
This year From Our Hearts is adding another fund-raiser to its line-up, which is a brand new car going to one lucky winner who holds the winning raffle ticket.
“We are only selling 1,500 tickets at $25 each, so the chances of winning are pretty good odds,” she said.
From now until BreastFest on March 9, the car will appear in various locations throughout the island to give individuals the opportunity to purchase chance tickets.
From Our Hearts members will be at Winn-Dixie on Jan. 20 from 10-3 p.m., Feb. 9 from 1-4 p.m. and Feb. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased on Feb. 9 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. during the Fisher’s of Men Craft Fair.
On Feb. 16 individuals will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets during the T-shirt pick up for BreastFest walker’s at Island Exchange, as well as the Garden Gala on Feb. 23.
A collaborate effort between From Our Hearts and Pine Island Elementary School is in the planning stages for a September 2013 through December 2014 calendar. The slogan will be “Celebrate Another Year of Life,” with themes of the student’s drawings of “Life On Pine Island.”
“Island businesses will have the opportunity to advertise in the calendar as well,” Verner said.
