Volunteer boaters needed to take water samples in island area

1 min read

Volunteer boaters are needed one day a month to help with volunteer water sampling near Flamingo Bay, Blind Pass and San Carlos Bay.

Four volunteers with boats are needed to help with a local volunteer water monitoring group once a month. The four available locations required boat to get to: three sites are in Pine Island Sound – near the Flamingo Bay channel and Blind Pass and Redfish Passes.

One site is in San Carlos Bay near Woodring’s Point.

Sampling is on the first Monday of each month. This is a great opportunity to be on the water early in the morning once a month to help with this long time group that tests the health of our local waters for humans, fish and invertebrates.

No experience or education is required all training and equipment are provided (except the boat). Once on site, the water sampling takes about 3/4 hour.

Join the camaraderie of this dedicated and nationally recognized group of Pine Islanders helping us preserve our wonderful treasures.
