1 min read

Palm Beach Atlantic University freshman Evan Berlanti of Bokeelia has been named the first recipient of the University’s Barbara H. Ferrin Endowed Scholarship.

The scholarship is named in honor of the late Barbara Hogate Ferrin, a former resident of Palm Beach, Fla., Scarsdale, N.Y., and Quaker Hill in Pawling, N.Y.

Mrs. Ferrin was active in the social and charitable lives of the communities in which she lived. Before her death in 2010, she was a supporter of the Rehabilitation Center for Children and Adults in Palm Beach.

The scholarship is awarded to a freshman with a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher; a minimum SAT score of 1250 or ACT score of 28; and who plans to major in English, history, political science, pre-law or philosophy.

Berlanti is majoring in history and is a student in the University’s Frederick M. Supper Honors Program.

Primarily home schooled, Berlanti was involved in the dual enrollment program at Edison State College.

He has been active in Cape Christian Fellowship in Cape Coral as leader of the youth group’s worship band.
