250 youngsters, parents attend Movie on the Lawn

Some of the youngsters came dressed in pajamas carrying blankets and chairs, as their parents accompanied them, during the sixth annual Movie on the Lawn at Pine Island Elementary School Thursday night.
Two hundred and fifty parents and their children attended this year’s event to watch newly released “Santa Paws 2” under the stars in the courtyard of the elementary school.
A big screen and speakers were brought out into the courtyard to show the movie. The kids laid on blankets close to the screen, as the parents sat in chairs behind them on the lawn.
As the adults and kids entered the cafeteria, they were given two tickets, one for popcorn and the other for hot chocolate. Pizza was also for sale for those who wished to purchase some dinner.
“Thank you all for coming out,” Pine Island Elementary School Principal Rob Mazzoli said, welcoming those in attendance. “Parents thank you for coming out. Enjoy the show.”
He said he still has students who have graduated from Pine Island Elementary School attend the event with their siblings and parents.
Misty Ramsey attended the Movie on the Lawn with her daughter for the third consecutive year.
“I think it’s awesome,” she said of the event. “It’s a great event for the kids.”
Ramsey said her daughter looks forward to the event every year because she can come dressed in her pajamas and hang out with her friends.
The tradition, she said, will continue until her daughter graduates from Pine Island Elementary School.
