Southwest Florida Blues Festival set for Nov. 17

Next weekend the Matlacha Mariners 13th Annual Southwest Florida Blues Festival will be held at the German American Social Club in Cape Coral.
“It’s going to be a really good time for everybody and all the proceeds go to local charities,” said Jerry Tolliver, event coordinator.
Tickets to the show, which are $15 in advance, can be purchased at Traders Hitching Post in Matlacha, First Note Music at 461 Del Prado Blvd., S., in Cape Coral and Rainbow Records at 2113 Del Prado Blvd., S., in Cape Coral.
“Advance tickets are cash only,” Tolliver said.
The advanced tickets will be available to purchase until the close of business on Nov. 16.
Tickets at the gate are $20 per person. Children 11 years old and younger are free with a paid adult.
The event will be held Saturday, Nov. 17, with a tentative rain date of Sunday, Nov. 18. The gates open at 11 a.m. and the music will fill the German American Social Club from 11:45 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Tolliver encourages individuals to bring their own beach chairs and blankets to the event. He said beach umbrellas are not allowed only because they block the view of other people.
“Bring a hat instead,” Tolliver said, so individuals can keep the sun out of their eyes.
Coolers and pets are also not permitted on the grounds during the Blues Festival.
This year’s line-up includes Screamin’ & Cryin’, Reverend Raven and the Chain Smokin’ Altar Boys featuring Madison Slim, Deb & The Dynamics, Albert Castiglia, Too Slim & The Taildraggers, Mac Arnold & Plate Full of Blues and headliner The Shaun Murphy Band.
