Thank you cards, which were designed by the youngsters who attended summer camp at the Matlacha Community Center, along with a thank you frame were presented to Ernestine Holloway Squires and Elsie Stearns with the Bobby Holloway Memorial Fund Friday afternoon.

The Bobby Holloway Memorial Fund donates money to the summer camp each year to provide a special field trip for the youngsters to the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre. This year, 45 kids were treated to a performance of “Grease,” along with a dinner and dessert buffet during summer camp.

“It’s really special,” Community Center site director Sue Slingerland said of the field trip. “It is so nice to be able to treat the kids over the summer.”

Stearns said they donated money to cover the transportation to the show, as well as the kid’s admission.

“This is what we are all about,” Holloway Squires said about helping the youngsters of the island.

This year Holloway Squires and Stearns went on the field trip to enjoy the show with the campers.
