Youngsters enjoy Wacky Wednesday at the library
Eleven youngsters gathered at the Pine Island Library last week to take part in the Wacky Wednesday program.
The children listened to four different trickster stories, which included such titles as “Tops and Bottoms” and “The Toll Bridge Troll,” during the hour-long program, which was then followed by arts and crafts.
Pine Island Public Library Associate for Youth Services Tonya Player said Wacky Wednesday is usually held the last Wednesday of the month at 3:30 p.m.
Once story time was over, the youngsters spread out on the floor and onto chairs to paint a rock of their choosing in whatever color they wanted. Before they got started, Player showed them different examples of animals that she painted.
On Sept. 26, she said they will have a gentleman talk about fossil hunting during Wacky Wednesday. Those who attend will receive shark teeth.
The next program at the library will be held on Sept. 8 for International Literacy Day. The program, which will begin at 2 p.m., will involve stories and crafts from around the world.
