Registration continues for Low Key Tiki Red Fish Challenge
Anglers can still register for the 2nd annual Low Key Tiki Red Fish Challenge this month, which will offer cash prizes for the first, second and third place finishers.
The $50 per angler registration fee includes a T-shirt, food – donated by Wingnuts – and beverage, along with entertainment. The Wingnuts, which prepared food for the tournament last year, will provide barbecue for the anglers again this year.
Scott Adams, owner of Low Key Tiki, encourages anglers to sign up early, so they are guaranteed the correct T-shirt size. He said the long sleeve T-shirts are really nice, just in time for the fall when the temperatures begin to get cooler.
The first tournament, which benefited the organization From Our Hearts, attracted 15 boats and 45 anglers last year.
This year Adams and his wife, Bar, felt that they should hold a tournament that would benefit the fishermen.
“Let’s have a tournament just for them,” he said.
Adams said they are trying to build the purse up as high as they can for the first, second and third place finishers of the tournament.
The Captain’s Meeting will be held Friday, Sept. 14, at Low Key Tiki and the tournament will be held the following day with weigh-in starting at 3:30 p.m. Live music will be performed by High Tide from 4-8 p.m. on Sept. 15.
Raffles will also be a part of the tournament festivities.
Due to Low Key Tiki’s location, anglers will have easy access to a boat ramp, gas and bait at Monroe Canal Marina. Adams said the marina has all of the anglers’ fishing needs and supplies needed for the tournament.
Lodging is also available close to Low Key Tiki’s location for those anglers coming from out of town. Adams said Two Fish Inn and Waters Edge Motel are in walking distance for Low Key Tiki.
For more information about lodging call Two Fish Inn at 239-283-4519 or Waters Edge Motel at 239-283-0515.
“It’s just going to be a fun time,” Adams said about the tournament.
