Cat of the Week

Does anyone out there have a cat door? That’s all it would take to make this 5 year-old boy happy. Mikey is a sweet loving kitty who spends most of his time indoors. When night comes however, he has a compulsive need to go outdoors. His former owner tried everything to break him of his habit and eventually gave in and let him out. He didn’t want to stay out long, often screaming frantically to get back in 10 minutes later. When he did stay out, he got beat up several times by the neighborhood bullies. A simple solution would be to go to a home with a cat door leading to a lanai or yard. Mikey is not doing well at our shelter. He desperately wants a home. Can you help? Call Helping Paws Animal Sanctuary as 239-283-9100 as soon as possible! Thanks!
Also, to all of you who responded to my plea and donated scoopable cat litter, Thank You! We really appreciate the help!
Cat of the Week

This gorgeous 14-year-old Himalayan kitty deserves to be spoiled. When her previous owner passed away, Sadie along with her brother and sister, had a difficult time adjusting to life at Helping Paws. They mourned the loss of a wonderful owner and missed the pampered lifestyle they were used to. Within a month of being here, both her brother and sister passed away. This actually happens a lot when cats are surrendered. They suffer a period of depression and often times the stress is too much for their bodies. Sadie has managed to overcome the loss of not only her owners, but her siblings as well. She has proved to be remarkably adaptable and has developed her own routine. Sadie loves to be brushed and gets so excited when she hears the bag of treats. She also has a playful side. Games of catch the string or mouse are her favorite. We are hoping to find her a quiet loving home where she can get the attention she deserves. If that is you, please call Helping Paws at 239-283-9100.
Cat of the Week

Sweet Tea is barely 2 years old and has had a sad beginning. She was an abused cat and is slowly learning about love. Her owner wanted to get rid of her, so she asked the vet to put her down. She is a beautiful, healthy girl that loves to play and spend time outside. Sweet Tea loves any kind of affection, and it isn’t hard to guess why. We suspect she was taken from her mother too early because she doesn’t know how to make happy kitty noises, which are usually learned from a nurturing mother. Instead of purrs or mews, she expresses herself by growling. She does it when she’s happy, when she’s playing or even when she is rubbing up against you.
Sweet Tea deserves a second chance in a loving home. She isn’t happy here at the shelter, because she is afraid of the other cats. If you would like to help poor Sweet Tea learn about love, please give us a call at 239-283-9100.
