Yard Dogs to disband following Midwest tour

The Yard Dogs will disband after returning from their Midwest tour this summer. Upon arrival, the band will have a few more gigs in S.W. Florida when it returns in late August. The last gig will be played at the place where the trio met – at Bert’s Bar in Matlacha. The date and time is still to be determined.
The band’s 11 CDs include many songs that relate to the islands, such as “Don’t Stay In Matlacha,” “Matlacha Reeboks,” “St James City,” “Feel Ya In Bokeelia,” along with many more. The band is not disbanding because of friction between members, but rather all three of them have different pursuits.
Kip Lawrence is currently pursuing a solo career, which has been successful so far due to him selling a few CDs.
“I hope to concentrate on that with a few solo shows thrown in,” he said.
On Friday, July 13, at 6 p.m., there will be a live CD recording with Lawrence at the Olde Fish House Marina and Restaurant named “Live at the Olde Fish House.” The event will also include a live video recording of Kip’s song “Debutante to Trailer Trash.”
“We need a crowd of friendly islanders to become a part of this event,” Lawrence said.
