GPICC looking for volunteers to help with MangoMania 2012
MangoMania 2012 is just around the corner and the Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce is asking for volunteers to help in the following areas: ticket booths, souvenir sales, children’s area, tasting booth, beverages booths, parking area and GPICC information booth.
Saturday’s shifts are in 3-hour increments and Sunday’s shifts are in 3.5 hour increments.

Recipe Contest
The annual contest for the best Mango appetizer, jams, and chutney’s will be judged at the MangoMania Tropical Fruit Festival on Saturday July 21 at 10 a.m. We invite you to bring your best dish for our celebrity judges to sample.
Amateur cooks/chefs and restaurants alike are encouraged to enter the contests – each item entered MUST have mango in the recipe.
The Amateur Contest categories are as follows:
– Mango Bread, one loaf
– Mango Salsa/ Relish/ Chutney, 1 pint jar
– Mango Cookies/Dessert, 4 cookies or 2 servings dessert
– Mango Jams/Jellies/Preserves, 1 pint jar
– Mango Smoothies, 2 servings
– Mango Dressing/marinate, 1 bottle
Our Professional Mango Recipe Contest has the following categories:
– Mango Appetizer, 2 servings
– Mango Entree, 1 plate
– Mango Dessert, 2 servings
Multiple entries may be submitted for each division, and in each category. Entry forms are available at the Greater Pine Island Chamber of Commerce, or on line at www.floridascreativecoast.com/MMcontests.html. Entry forms must be delivered or faxed to the Pine Island Chamber of Commerce by 3 p.m., Friday, July 20.
Entries must be at the MangoMania Festival Food Judging at the main stage by 9:45 a.m., Saturday, July 21. All entries will be assigned a number for judging; the judges will not know the identities of those who submit the entries. If your entry requires chilling or heating, please bring a cooler or warming tray marked with your name.
There is no fee for entering the food contests – all of the area’s creative cooks and chefs are urged to “step up to the plate” with their favorite mango dish.
