Veterans to be honored at Pine Island Elementary School

2 min read

Once again, Principal Rob Mazolli and the students at the Pine Island Elementary School are inviting veterans and the community at large to their annual Veterans Day Ceremony to be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m.

“We love holding this event each year because it is so important for Americans young and old, and in between, to acknowledge our service men and women,” said Princip Mazolli. “All veterans attending are invited to stay after the program for sandwiches and drinks, which we provide free of charge. Serving lunch is the least we can do to honor those who have served our country.”

The event will be held at the elementary school pavilion. The Boy Scouts will do the presentation of colors and the Eagles choir will sing.

“Our terrific choir, composed of third, fourth and fifth grade singers, will sing The Star Spangled Banner, We Will Not Forget and then will lead all the students and attendees in singing Grand Old Flag,” Principal said.

New this year is a performance by second grade students singing God Bless the USA while at the same time using sign language to communicate the lyrics.

The program will last approximately 45 minutes.

Pine Island Elementary School is at 5360 Ridgewood Drive in Bokeelia.
