Students collect food for pantry

Again this year Miss Tina Garris and her 20 5th grade students from Pine Island Elementary School collected food for the Pine Island Food Pantry. Each year Garris and her students spearhead a drive to provide food for the needy. This year they collected over 1,395 pounds, representing nearly 2,000 canned items. With the help of these children and Island business and residents the panty is able to continue to help feed the hungry.
